Description:
4” x 6”, (seed propagated). Bromide, Johnston Co., OK. This subspecies forms beautiful multistemmed clusters (hence the subspecies designation “caespitosa”) of low stems topped with bright pink flowers. The spines are short and are held closely against the the ribs of the stems. Three year old plants. Like a short-spined form of “albispinus”. A real gem. Zones 5-10.
ECHINOCEREUS reichenbachii: An extremely beautiful species valued for its neat comb-like spines. Huge shimmering flowers in shades of pink. A must for any rock garden. Easily grown in well drained soils. Dependable bloomers.
