Quick Facts

Description:

18-24” x 8-10” wide, (seed propagated). A lovely wildflower species from southern Europe with graceful spikes of bright-pink flowers frosted with white. Blooming in early summer, the plant has attractive grass-like foliage that persists before going dormant later in the summer. A nice companion plant for mixing into pink flowering Allium.

In 2008, we are offering 2 year old plants grown from seed. They have 3 to 4 fans and are sturdy, well rooted and ready to transplant into your garden. Gladiolus segetum is a slow grower. Some of our plants are in bud (3/26/08) while others will most likely reach flowering size next year (3 yr. old plants). This is a showy, long lived and permanent bulb once established in your garden so please be patient. It’s worth the wait!

Not recommended for planting in CA or the Pacific NW (rainy coastal areas of OR and WA). Zones 5-10.
