Legacy® Buffalo Grass Companion Garden
Quick Facts
Legend
Description:
Designed by Tim LaPan, Denver Water Department (However, some plants have been changed by HCG.)
Integrate the beauty of a Legacy® buffalo grass lawn into an urban home’s front yard by planting it with a mix of low-care, high-color perennials, ornamental grasses and shrubs. The ‘Legacy Companion Garden’ plan shows you how to artfully combine different types of xeric plants into a pleasing design that will make your home a standout on your block.
The Pineleaf Penstemon, ‘Rose Glory’ Rockrose, ‘Slowmound’ Mugo Pine and ‘Hidcote Superior’ Lavender add evergreen foliage and showy summer flowers to the mix. The ornamental grasses bring texture, a vertical element and winter interest to the yard, while the other perennials extend the blooming season from spring into late summer and early fall. All these plants thrive in hot, sunny sites planted in poor to average-quality garden soils. This yard design will minimize the work, water and time needed to maintain a showy, great-looking front yard. Who said xeriscapes are boring and hard to do?
The following plants are included in this collection.
Please note:
This collection does not include the following plants for this garden:
- 2 Cut-leaf Staghorn Sumacs
